Road to Resilience:  Moving Forward on All-Hazards and Pandemic Planning

Deadline to submit a proposal:  Monday, June 6, 2011

The Minnesota Department of Health is seeking proposals for sessions that align with the overall conference goal of building resilience. Local public health departments, tribal governments, state agencies and other partners may submit session proposals. We are seeking proposals for breakout sessions as well as gauging interest in doing a poster session. Please be as descriptive as possible in your proposal.

Conference goals:

  1. Share tools, templates and lessons learned that will enhance the ability of public health to respond to emergencies and future pandemics across Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
  2. Build resilience and improve emergency preparedness, response, and recovery of state, local, and tribal agencies.
  3. Develop an understanding of the target capabilities and their impact on grant duties and reporting.
  4. Build upon lessons learned through the H1N1 pandemic.

Examples of categories for your presentation

Please consider (but do not limit yourself to) the following categories and topic areas for potential presentations. We are particularly interested in sessions that describe how your agency is helping to build community resilience and utilizing activities or lessons learned into all-hazards and pandemic planning.

  • Working with at-risk populations: homeless, homebound, persons with disabilities and the elderly
  • Working with community partners and across county or state borders: healthcare systems, schools, universities, faith-based organizations, local businesses, community vaccinators, work site clinics, law enforcement (security), etc.
  • Budgeting, financial implications and reimbursement
  • Continuity of operations: ICS
  • Communications tools: social media
  • New practices, technologies or initiatives: mobile medical units, pop-up clinics
  • Regional or local medical materiel distribution.
  • Training issues/experiences
  • Tribal government activities/perspectives
  • Other
