Success:
Concept to Implementation
Wednesday,
March 28, 2012
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Crowne Plaza Hotel, Brooklyn Park
All MnSCU Colleges and Universities are invited to send a
cross-functional team to a working institute on Wednesday, February 29,
2012. The institute, K-12/Higher Education Collaborations for Student
Success: Concept to
Implementation, will address Chancellor Rosenstone's directive to "better
align P-12 with post-secondary education... to reduce the achievement gap"
(November 1 Draft Priorities). The purpose of the institute is to share
strategies to operationalize the concept of collaboration between P-12 and
higher education to promote college readiness and success for
underrepresented students. The format will combine multiple breakout
sessions on specific topics, including practical tips and lessons learned in
creating meaningful collaborations. Each team will create an action plan
during the institute, so participating colleges/universities are encouraged
to include P-12 personnel as team members. The institute is sponsored by the
three MnSCU Access and Opportunity Centers of Excellence.
Who Should Participate?
One or more teams from MnSCU colleges and universities and
representatives of their K-12 partners school/district; teams from MnSCU
institutions who want to learn practical strategies in order to create a new
partnership with a K-12 school/district; members of advocacy groups;
representatives from the media; directors of external foundations;
interested K-12 administrators who want to create partnerships with
colleges.
